Classic set of boleros by E.G.C. from the late 60s. Andy Montañez and Pellin Rodriguez do a great job, solo and singing duets. No surprises here – good solid romantic boleros through and through. You won’t hear the lush string arrangements that Joe Cain did for Vicentico Valdes or La Lupe for example, but you do get killer versions of some Arsenio Rodriguez chestnuts like “Oye Mi Consejo” and “Complejo”. Marcelino Guerra’s “A Mi Manera” is here too, so the material is top notch. Rafael Ithier gets to stretch on piano. Recommended. (Pablo Yglesias, 2009-03-03)
