It's ironic timing that Ray's 1967 Fania debut album should be among the first batch of 30 digitally remastered titles reissued by the label's new owners the month after his death. Coinciding with the boogaloo / Latin soul fad, it's mix of jazz (which was Ray's "other life"), soul and raw barrio swing make Acid one of the greatest recordings to emerge during this period in the history of New York Latin music.
