The liner notes say La Raza Latina is a history of Latin music in musical form. At the very least, it is a tour-de-force -- one of the true gems produced in the 70s. A must have. Nestor Sanchez, Ruben Blades, Frankie Rodriguez, Larry Harlow, and Adalberto Santiago all contribute to the coro. Hot. Very Highly Recommeded. (BP)
"Larry Harlow, Jewish New Yorker, pianist, composer, and arranger who fell in love with Cuban music in the late 1950s. He lived there absorbing its culture, customs and even became indoctrinated into the African based Yoruba religion. In the 1970s he became Fania's chief producer and musical director of the Fania All-Stars. This 1977 release is a masterpiece tracing the music's roots from Africa to Cuba to New York City to the future. It should have won a Grammy. Bravo Harlow!!!"
