Editor's Pick:
Along with Pete "Boogaloo" Rodríguez' I Like It Like That, Joe Cuba Sextet's Bang! Bang! Push, Push, Push is one of the principal albums of the '66-9 boogaloo craze. It contains the million selling single "Bang, Bang", penned by Jimmy Sabater and Cuba, which reached number 63 in the national US pop chart in 1966. Jimmy's composition "Oh Yeah" also charted in 1967. Highly recommended. (John Child, 2010-07-07)
Reviews:
"Includes 'Bang Bang,' one of the most often heard tunes during the Boogaloo era." (Max Salazar 98/99 Catalog)
"This CD has a lot of classic Joe Cuba tunes. We used to listen to a lot of the Joe Cuba albums almost every single day. We dug 'Cocinando,' which originally came out on the album 'Wanted-Dead or Alive,' because it was a descarga where everyone did their thing. You can hear the guys in the band calling each other by their nicknames and encouraging each other to play. You don't hear that anymore on records. I love the spirit of it. It really swings." (Poncho Sanchez and Ramon Banda 96/97 Catalog)
