Guitarist, arranger, and composer Nelson Faria was born in Belo Horizonte, MG, in 1963. When he was a child he moved to Brasilia, DF, where he began his guitar lessons. In 1983, he moved to Los Angeles where he studied with big name guitarists such as Joe Pass, Howard Roberts, Frank Gambale and Ted Greene. After returning to Brazil he became one of the most sought after musicians to lead workships, clinics and seminars. He has released a book on improvisation (entitled "A arte da improvisacao") and a instructional guitar video ("Toques de mestre") and a solo CD ("Ioio") as well. Mr. Faria presently is teaching guitar and improvisation at the Estacio de sa University in Rio. He also performs with many fine Brazilian artists such as Milton Nascimento, Edu Lobo, Toninho Horta, and many others. And by the way, he leads his own group too.
