This book is based on performances and transcriptions from the critically acclaimed DCI music videos, "Herlin Riley: Ragtime & Beyond" and "Johnny Vidacovich: Street Beats Modern Applications." Additional interviews and essays on: Baby Dodds, Vernel Fournier, Ed Blackwell, James Black, David Lee and bassist Bill Huntington. This CD features 14 songs with drumming examples. The musicians are: Nicholas Payton (Trumpet) Tony Dagradi (Tenor Sax), David Torkanowsky (Piano), Betty Ann Lastie Williams (Piano, Vocals), and Chris Severn and James Singleton (Bass). In addition there is included a poster entitled "Up From Congo Square" which charts the lineage of New Orleans drummers over the past 100 years.
