Ray Barretto

Tomorrow: Barretto Live In New York
Import CD (Koch 8285), Released 1976; Re-Issued 1986
Editor's Pick:
New reissue includes two tracks ("Night Flowers" and "Slo Flo")previously not on the CD version!
If I had to pick the best live salsa performances ever recorded, this one, from New York's Beacon Theater in May of 1976, has got to be at the top of the list. Some of this city's finest salsa musicians took part in what could arguably be the most vibrant concert recording since the early 70s Fania shows at the Cheetah club. This is a must-have, and I can't stress this enough. (BP, 2000-09-14)
