Editor's Pick:
Yet another salsa gem, this time from 1973, from Mr. Urbina (leader, baritone sax and flute) and his orchestra. Nice, clean sounding reissue features guests Luis “Perico” Ortiz on trumpet and Charlie Rodriguez on tres. Terrific coro section too: Roberto Torres, Yayo El Indio and Jimmy Sabater. “Yo Soy La Rumba” sizzles. There is a bonus track, “Asi Es La Humanidad,” that was not included on the original LP. Here arranged by Louie Ramirez, this great song written by Pedro Hernández Sánchez was interpreted later by Manny Oquendo and Conjunto Libre. Highly recommended. (BP, 2002-11-24)
