In his first new release in almost five years, veteran salsero Tito Allen has joined forces with Rafaelito Cortijo in an inspiring tribute to the Rafaelito's uncle, the late Puerto Rican percussionist, vocalist and composer Rafael Cortijo, who passed away in 1982.
Mr. Allen sounds right on target, and is the perfect candidate to bring these timeless Cortijo compositions back into limelight. With crisp salsa arrangements, and the appropriate Cortijo touches of bomba and plena, this is a terrific dance record with bright, uptempo, swinging arrangements and much sabor.
