Latin jazz with funk and soul. Old school rumba inflections on "Ochimini" open the door for more traditional hard-driving west coast Latin jazz with plenty of improvisation. Listen to the bass lines and trombone on "Tumbaito" I would have liked an extended descarga instead of, say, the sepia colored rendition of "Making Whoopee." But ending it with the uptempo and very swinging "Te Olvide" was a stroke of brilliance. Colombians will instantly recognize it, as it is the theme song of the annual Barranquilla festival.
