Perhaps in part because it was produced by Manolito Simonet (Manolito y Su Trabuco), or perhaps it attests to Félix Baloy's smart, well paced style, this new project by the veteran sonero has a fresh, vital feel that stays the course from the first killer track to the last. Listen to "Lo Otro Lopongo Yo," the Jorge Boulet arrangement of the Félix Rondon son composition. It is a relentlessly fiery track that begs to be played LOUD...perfect danceclub material. Follow it with "Yo Soy El Son," a sparkling Baloy original, and you'll really have the party going.
Baloy, who fronted Adalberto Alvarez's band for nearly a decade and then went on to become central to Juan De Marcos and the Afro-Cuban All Stars, has a tremendous charisma and charm which helps to compliment his rich seasoned voice. "Un Poquito De Fé" is Baloy's debut self-produced project utilizing his own hand-picked band of top musicians and special guests including Amado Valdes, Tata Güines, Cesar Hechevarria, Yordanis Ravelo Machado, Manolito Simonet and others.
