Here's a terrific salsa-descarga-jazz release direct from Venezuela. Franklin Veloz, a talented young bandleader and vibraphone player has created a first-rate dance release that features the legendary Cuban pianist Alfredo Rodriguez (Cubanismo, Juan Pablo Torres, Patato etc.) as well as the top-pick percussionist Orlando Poleo. Note must be made of vocalist Yeci Ramos who does a remarkable job infusing an almost Cuban timba intensity to the some of the arrangements, especially the sizzling cover track "A Bailar La Rumba." He even sings a salsa number in French ("Le Feulles Mortes").
This one came as a welcome surprise, and will keep both the salsa and jazz listeners very happy.
