Art dealer Arne Glimcher's 1992 directorial debut motion picture about two Cuban brothers who come to America in the 1950s to find fame and fortune in the Latin music world. Whether or not you love the film (I found it fun despite some thin acting; Desi Arnaz Jr.'s robotic take on his dad is pretty much hilarious), it's great to see so many of Latin music's heroes on the big (uh, small) screen. Well worth it for the Puente and Celia segments alone.
Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Oscar Hihuelos. With Armand Assante, Antonio Banderas, Cathy Moriarty, Maruschka Detmers, Desi Arnaz Jr., Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, José Alberto "El Canario," Ralph Irizarrry and many others.
