Creepin' Up
CD
(Rico Records 705),
Released 1971;

Editor's Pick:
Good salsa, from the early '70s, proving once again that there was a scene outside of the Fania empire. This is gritty, driving, cowbell beating, roots salsa at it's most fun. Leader and trumpet player Gus Colón — seventeen years old at the time of this release — was amongst the *oldest* members of the band which ranged in ages from fourteen to eighteen — these guys were kids! Good vocals by Eddie Marrero, who, in this listeners opinion, should have stayed clear of ballads in english. Fortunately, there was only one on "Creepin' Up." With Nestor Sanchez and Tony Pabón on coro. Recommended. (BP, 2005-12-26)
