Editor's Pick:
Here's the second release from Orchestra Colón. This 1973 release is a continuation of their essential, rootsy sound. The Track "Adan y Eva" is a fun one: with Eve the temptress not satisfied until she hears the crunch of Adam biting the apple. Continues with the slow drive, bell banging "Pa' Lante." Nice groove here. But, once again, one would wish that someone had told Eddie Marrero to stick to the Spanish salsa tracks. There are two painful English tracks, and they're doozies: "By The Time I Get To Phoenix" And the what-were-they-thinking track called "Dream Inspirations." Talk about meandering aimlessly. However, the near-classic guajira "Pedro Simon" makes up for it. Recommended. (BP, 2005-12-26)
