Mr. Gorbea is back with his best release in years. His smoldering slower mid-tempo montuno grooves prove that speed is not what makes salsa hot. A terrific job, and a first class percussion section featuring Frank Reyes on congas, Ruben Borges on timbales and bongocero Juan Rodrigues. With tracks like the deep groove "Pa' Puerto Rico" — listen how Tomer Levy makes his trumpet cry out — Prakatun has clearly solidified Gorbea's reputation as one of New York's best salsa dance bands. He's even crafted a tune, the 6-1/2 minute "DJs Sabroso" that, with its perfect tempo, will guarantee the participation of the dancers. Every track here is a winner, zero filler material.
