Delgado, a bassist and fixture on the Panamanian music scene, has put out a record, in theory, recorded live. It’s sound pretty good, perhaps to good to be done live; anyway, here’s some good straight up salsa, from a super tight band. There’s good singing, a nice horn section. It’s hard to identify if the music sounds different from salsa from Puerto Rico; I guess it doesn’t, and given the amount of material from C. Curet Alonso, and Fania, I suppose the comparison’s apt. Though the band does "Buscando Guayaba", which is both Panamanian and Fania. It just sounds good, solid. Recommended. (Peter Watrous, 2006-11-14)
