The Colombian singer, based in New York, is backed here by one fine band, including Lucho Cueto on piano, Roberto Quintero, Jose Mangual Jr. and Carlito Soto on percussion, plus Tito Allen on coro and plenty more. He sings in a high tenor voice, and he lays his melodies with some serious intent, and as pretty as he sings, he's ultimately a percussionist when he improvises. He’s also kind of eccentric, with strange diction; he reminds me a bit of Angel Canales. Anyway, a good addition to the library of salsa dura from New York.
