One talented guy, Rodriguez, a Cuban living in Miami, sings a sort of souped-up son, deep with political insight. He helps his cause with a big voice, and a range of musical influences; at times he wanders into singer-songwriter territory. Included in the record is a small dictionary of Cuban terms for Spanish speaking non-Cubans, which suggests how his world works: he doesn’t bother translating the terms into English. Good, smart music.
