Jose Negroni, the pianist, joins up with his son Nomar on drums, to work through highly ornate compositions, mostly by him. They’re helped by Alex Acuña on cajon, Marco Panascia on bass, Quique Domenech on cuatro and Maria Nahima, a singer. This stuff’s intricately arranged, and often quite beautiful, and always sophisticated. It’s Latin jazz, I guess, or some variant thereof, and not meant to be explosive or overly improvised. It’s super elegant.
