Blasini’s a good, pinched singer who leads a local band around New York. The recording’s straight ahead, salsa dura, and totally pleasing. There’s some flute on it, and violin, but at its heart the project is a salsa dance record, and at that it succeeds well. At one time in New York there were hundreds of bands like this. Blasini’s one of the last men standing, and he’s good. With Raul Navarette, Karen Joseph, Ray Castro, Willie Amadeo, Roberto Quintero, Harry Adorno and others.
