I guess the news here is that Pedro Calvo’s son, P.C. Jr. is the lead singer. He’s not bad, a bit stentorian, but rhythmically in the groove, with lots of nice phrases. The band, from Havana, but recorded in Italy — the record is the second the band’s put out — is fine, a bit pop at times, but when the whole thing starts moving, it’s good. Solid salsa, Cuban style.
