Richard Egües (1924-2006), known for his long tenure with Orquesta Aragón, is considered by many to have been the finest flautist of Cuban popular music of all time. This cd, presumably his final project, is a descarga session full of improvisations and rich Cuban dance rhythms that features musicians that can also be considered legendary. Among them are pianist Ruben Gonzalez, bassist Orlando Lopez (Cachaito), percussionists Blas Egues and Guido Sarria, violinists Pedro Hernandez and Eneldo Sanchez, viola player Jorge Padilla and others. In the classic sense of traditional Cuban descargas, many of the tracks start off as sweet danzons that slowly build towards harder swinging jam sessions. With the participation of vocalists Jose (Pepe) Olmo and Javier Olmo.
Includes a bonus DVD disk that features the fascinating documentary "Suena La Flauta Richard" produced by Guillermo Piñeyro Álvarez and narrated by Egües daughter, Gladys.
Descargando con... is an eventual classic that should not be missed.
