The return of the franchise, conceived of, constructed by, and run by, the producer Sergio George. This version’s bumped the first lead singer, Huey Dunbar, and replaced him with Miss Yaya, who can shout, along with sing, and the result is killing, a slick mixture of modern dance floor rhythms and salsa. While there’s a bunch of new material (including the Peruvian tune made famous by Celia Cruz, "Toro Mata"), half of the album consists of live remakes of older tunes, including "No Morira," "Juliana," "Muevete" and more, and the band and the singers stretch out and it’s pretty great; on Juliana the Colombian singer Jhonatan Betacur sings along with Miss Yaya, before the band’s toasters come in and take the tune out. It’s complicated and highly skilled and if someone just takes this as popular music, they’re missing some of the more sophisticated pop music on the planet. George is joined by a great group of musicians, including the Gales, Jimmy and Diego, along with more. Hard salsa pop at its best.
