'Funkifying The Clave: Afro-Cuban Grooves For Bass and Drums' is a matching DVD to the best-selling Alfred Publishing book of the same name dealing with traditional Afro-Cuban rhythms and their application to funk, rock, and jazz. Topics covered include clave and tumbao, songo, guaguanco, Afro-Cuban 6/8, Cha-Cha-Cha, and Mozambique. Robby Ameen has made a life study of Afro-Cuban rhythms and combines this knowledge with his own powerful drumming style to create a highly original jazz/funk/Afro-Cuban amalgam. Robby's ability to complement a rhythm section can be heard on numerous recordings with Ruben Blades, Dave Valentin, Eddie Palmieri, Dizzy Gillespie, and Paul Simon. He currently works with the El Negro and Robby Band and with his power trio, Overproof.
