Editor's Pick:
**Classics Revisited** Funky unsophisticated Puerto Rican acid salsa from pianist Pachapo Jiménez and his two trombone-led El Super Tumbao. The band sounds under rehearsed and rickety; the solos contain the occasional bum note; the lead vocalist has a yearning, if not somewhat whining voice; but don't be put off, because they're GREAT! I imagine this is the type of stuff that goes down well in the salsotecas of Cali, Colombia's self-proclaimed salsa capital of the world. In fact, the Colombian band Los Titanes covered the cut "Algo Criollo" on their 2003 CD Salsa Super Power on Fuentes. Another blinding track is "Dunami Un Sunchi". Go on, be bold, add this one to your collection. Highly recommended. (John Child, 2008-11-09)
