Bassist Pedro Pablo Gutierrez, a founding member of Charanga Habanera and the force behind a huge number of successful modern Cuban salsa and timba projects, is the musical director of Havana Salsa Team. The concept here is to combine elements of salsa and timba and pump their combined essence into well known ballads. To accomplish the task, three vocalists were called upon: Tirso Duarte (from Pupy Pedroso, Charanga Habanera, NG La Banda), Alexander Acosta (Chispa, Charanga Forever, Reve, Arnaldo y la Cosmopolita) and Evelia Jaz (Havana Power Band). The result is danceclub and radio-ready, with catchy hooks and uptempo timba styled arrangements. Highly Recommended. (BP, 2009-02-09)
