If you thought salsa was asleep for the summer, think again. Trumpeter Luis Gonzalez, El Tsunami de La Salsa, has released a pumped up old school salsa auténtico project from Puerto Rico that features a ton of special guests like Fania singer Adaberto Santiago, who gives us a dynamic Homenaje A Barretto. Santiago was Barretto's front line singer on most of the '70s classic sessions. Paquito Guzman shows up for Dale Olvido, and other guests include Luis "Perico" Ortiz, Celso Clemente, Angie Machado, Charlie Sierra, Leni Prieto. There are others, too, but you get the picture. If you need assurance, listen to the sparkling Siempre Pa' Lante, La Corte De Tambor or Homenaje a los Compositores. Thumbs up to singers Tito Gonzalez and Roberto Ortiz on those superlative tracks. A big DJ Alert and collector's Must-Have.
