True old-school salsa from Puerto Rico's Orquesta K'Viar, a terrific orchestra out of Maunabo. Led by trumpeter Ricky Navas, who states the band's influences are Bobby Valentin, Willie Rosario, and Grupo Galé. I hear early Frankie Ruiz and, perhaps, some other influences like Conspiracion as well... all good sources. This three trombone band knows how to rock the dancefloor. Features the singers Enrique De Jesus, Eloy Sepulveda and Julio Quiñones. Did I mention the guests singers on Al Fin? Rafú Warner, Junior Gonzalez, Roberto Anglero, and Juan De Jesús. This is the sort of band you would hope to discover playing at 2am in a downtown club. Capital "S" Salsa, and Highly Recommended. (BP, 2010-06-29)
