Here's something special. Miami-based Cuban bassist Yorgis Goiricelaya's new album is the result of a large scale production involving over twenty musicians and covers a wide range of popular genres fron son to danzón, mambo, guaracha, guaguancó, bolero, Latin jazz and salsa to convey a story of charity and faith. With its big, ambitous, sound and message, La Caridad Nos Une is unquestionably theatrical in nature, and this project was most certainly written with the live performance in mind. And while some live performances don't transcend well into recording, this one, with superb mixing/engineering, works just perfectly. It's a lovely, grand, piece of work that makes me want to see it live. That's a big compliment. With percussionists Marvin Diz, Reinier Guerra and Michael Barroso, singers Yordamis Megret, Xavier Mili, and Ana Rivero, trumpeters Omar Peralta and Dante Vargas, trombonist William Paredes and a whole bunch of other talent, this one is Very Highly Recommended.
