Alexander Abreu Y Havana D' Primera
Pasaporte
This long awaited timba release from one of the hottest stars in Cuba is finally here, after several incarnations. The original release had eleven tracks, then there was an eight track release, there was a version that came with a "Making of" DVD, and now, this latest version, cd only, which has ten tracks. While we are not sure what the issue was, we are certainly happy that its here, and it was worth the wait. I would suggest getting this as soon as you can, as who knows how long this one will be available. When you do, watch out, because Abreu and his crew blow the roof off: check out the opening tornado "Pa' Mi Gente." Guest singer Isaac Delgado steps in on "Donde Estemos Tu y Yo." Can Havana D' Primera continue to hold the title of the hardest timba band in Cuba? Pasaporte is a very good argument, indeed. Produced by Abreu and Juan Manuel Ceruto, and with liner notes by non other than Juan Formell of Los Van Van. Very Highly Recommended.
