Frank M. Figueroa
"Frank M. Figueroa was born in Puerto Rico and arrived in New York City at the age of fourteen. He graduated from Seward Park High School and, after serving in the Air Force, earned a BA at Seton Hall University and was granted a masters degree and a doctorate from Columbia University. His radio program "Spanish Times" was the first program to be broadcasted by WSOU-FM when it went on the air in 1947. His radio career included the first mambo show on New York City radio on station WLIB in 1948. He also hosted shows on WNJR, WEVD, WVNJ, and WHOM. After completing a 35 year career as a college professor, Frank came back to his first love which is Latin music. He wrote the "Encyclopedia of Latin American Music in New York," "Alamanaque de la música latinoamericana," and "Cancionero de Agustín Lara." Frank is a frequent contributor to "Latin Beat Magazine" and the "Impacto Newsletter," he writes CD liner notes for record companies, and produces radio segments heard in stations throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. Frank says, "I love all types of music. I fully agree with Shneur Zalman when he said, 'Words are the pen of the heart, but music is the pen of the soul.' My criteria for selecting good music is rather simple, I listen and if I get a feeling of well-being instantaneously, without having to reflect on it, I know I am listening to good music.""

Tito Rodriguez, The Best Of The Best
CD (Disco Hit 2069),Released 1995;
New old stock found! Limited quantities...
The CD title tells it all. This is the best this romantic singer ever recorded. Who would ever think that this artist, who hated to sing boleros early in his career, would turn out to be one of the best interpreters of this genre. This is one of my favorite of favorites.

Luis Miguel, Romances
CD (WEA Latina 19798),Released 1997;
"The renaissance of the bolero and the ballad are due to the efforts of this young singer. This is the third of three CDs that bear the same title. Guided by the artistic direction of Armando Manzanero and with arrangements by the brilliant Bebu Silvetti the outcome had to be superb. I like all three CDs."

Tito Rodriguez, Esta Es Mi Orquesta: Big Band Latino
CD (WS Latino 4178),Re-Issued 1993;
"I like this CD because it shows Tito as the kind, considerate gentleman he was. He was never too big or famous to forget that his musicians should receive some of the credit for his success. Here Tito introduces each member of his band and has something nice to say about each one. He then turns on the juice and sings some swinging up tempo tunes."
