Chuck Silverman
"Internationally known as a specialist in applying Afro-Caribbean rhythms to the drum set, Chuck Silverman has travelled the world performing with some of the greatest Latin artists and teaching thousands of drummers. Chuck has performed and taught in North and South America, Europe and Japan. He has been very fortunate to have spent time in both Cuba and Brazil, enhancing his knowledge of Afro-Cuban and Brazilian music and rhythms, and studying and performing with local musicians. Chuck's books, "Practical Applications Volumes 1,2 & 3," have been named to "Modern Drummer's" list of all-time best drum books. His educational video, also titled "Practical Applications," outlines some of his teaching and playing methods. Chuck's drum set performances blend the Afro-Cuban tradition and the funk style of music which was born in the States with a very creative approach to the instrument. He loves to listen to traditional Cuban charanga, and the more popular Cuban bands like NG La Banda, Los Van Van, Ritmo Oriental, Issac Delgado and Irakere."
